The December edition of the Jazz & Dance club series at Koko Jazz Club features Minna Tervamäki.
Minna Tervamäki is a multiple award-winning ballet dancer and an étoile at the Finnish National Ballet. During her over 20-year career she has been seen in almost every principal role of the canon of classical ballet and in numerous productions from some of the most distinguished contemporary dance choreographers. After retiring from the Finnish National Ballet in 2012, she has focussed more and more on productions that combine multiple media or forms of art.
As a choreographer, she debuted in 2005, and she has collaborated over the years with the likes of violinist Pekka Kuusisto, pianist Heini Kärkkäinen, flamenco dancer and choreographer Kaari Martin, accordion artist Kimmo Pohjonen and multi-media artist Marita Liulia. Music for the veteran dancer will be provided by the chameleon-like Aki Rissanen, star trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, phenomenal Joonas Riippa and the trusted man of the house Timo Hirvonen.

Joulukuisella Jazz & Dance- klubilla tähtiesiintyjänä Minna Tervamäki
Minna Tervamäki on Suomen Kansallisbaletin tähtitanssija. Hän on esiintynyt jo kolmatta vuosikymmentä kestävän uransa aikana lähes kaikissa arvostetuimmissa klassisen baletin päärooleissa sekä merkittävien nykykoreografien teoksissa. Tervamäki on esiintynyt erilaisissa gaaloissa niin kotimaassa kuin ulkomaillakin. Jäätyään eläkkeelle Kansallisbaletista keväällä 2012 Tervamäen toiminta on painottunut yhä enenevissä määrin poikkitaiteelliseen yhteistyöhön.
Hän debytoi koreografina teoksella Something Else? vuonna 2005. Tervamäki tekee yhteistyötä myös monien muiden tunnettujen artistien kanssa, kuten viulisti Pekka Kuusiston, pianisti Heini Kärkkäisen, flamencotanssija ja -koreografi Kaari Martinin, harmonikkataiteilija Kimmo Pohjosen ja multimediataiteilija Marita Liulian kanssa.
Tervamäki on saanut arvostetun Philip Morris Dance Flower Award -palkinnon vuonna 1997, Edvard Fazer -palkinnon vuonna 2000, Libris Award -palkinnon vuonna 2006 ja Imatran Balettigaalan tunnustuspalkinnon vuonna 2009. Syksyllä 2011 hänelle myönnettiin Suomen Leijonan ritarikunnan ensimmäisen luokan ritarimerkki. Lokakuussa 2011 Minna Tervamäelle myönnettiin Muusikkojen liiton tunnustuspalkinto.
Musiikista vastaavat maailman kovimpiin jazzympyröihin tiensä raivannut pianon kameleontti Aki Rissanen, sekä tähtitrumpetisti Verneri Pohjola. Rytmisektiossa loistava Joonas Riippa ja talon Timo Hirvonen.
