"My guiding vision was to make a modern but timeless rap-soul-pop album with a big band. Composed of the cream of Finland's rising jazz generation and three rap troupers, Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana brings together the best of Finnish jazz and rap. Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen's compositions draw upon Duke Ellington's late works and the energetic sound of Buddy Rich Big Band, but do not abandon the robust big band aesthetics of the debut album. The three rappers, Paleface, Redrama and Tommy Lindgren, lean heavily upon turn-taking, in the style of old-school rap, and the majority of the lyrics have come together in their collective writing sessions.

Suomen kovimmista nuorista jazzmuusikoista sekä kolmesta pitkän linjan räppäristä koostuva Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana kokoaa yhteen kotimaisen jazzin ja räpin huippunimet yhteensä 20-henkisen kokoonpanon esittämäksi spektaakkeliksi.RTBB:n kapellimestari Valtteri Laurell Pöyhösen sävellykset pohjaavat Duke Ellingtonin myöhäistuotannon ja Buddy Rich Big Bandin 60-luvun energiseen soundiin, unohtamatta RTBB:n ensilevyn juurevaa big band -estetiikkaa. Räppäreiden ilmaisu puolestaan nojaa vahvasti old school -henkiseen vuorotteluun, ja valtaosa levyn lyriikoista on syntynyt Palefacen, Redraman ja Tommy Lindgrenin yhteisissä kirjoitussessioissa.
