Uuden Musiikin Orkesteri, Timo Lassy ja Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen ovat kotimaisen jazzin käsitteitä ja laadun takaajia kukin omalla sarallaan. Pöyhönen on säveltänyt luottosolistilleen Lassylle ja Suomen johtavalle big bandille UMOlle uutta musiikkia. Luvassa on taatusti yllättävään suuntaan rönsyileviä hetkiä huipputekijöiden seurassa.
Saksofonisti Timo Lassy tunnetaan maamme kenties valovoimaisimpana jazzarina, jonka fanipohja ja vaikutusvalta ulottuu kauas ilmeisten jazzpiirien tuolle puolen. Miehen edellinen studioalbumi In With Lassy nousi listoille ja liveäänitys Live With Lassy myi ensipainoksensa loppuun lyhyessä ajassa. Solistina Lassy on karismaattinen, omaleimainen ja alati vaarallinen.
Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen tunnetaan yhtenä kotimaisen jazzmusiikin omaperäisimmistä sekä menestyneimmistä uudistajista viime vuosina. Pitkään nousujohteista uraansa luonut Dalindèo ja pankin totaalisesti räjäyttänyt Ricky-Tick Big Band ovat vahvoja työnäytteitä. Pöyhösen musiikissa sykkivät rinta rinnan hienostunut eleganssi ja miehen nykyisen kotikaupungin Berliinin raaka swing.
Viime keväänä ensi-iltansa saaneessa ja uudelleen kiertueelle lähtevässä konsertissa Lassy ja Pöyhönen haastavat myös esiintymiskonseptia tuomalla lavalle vivahteita beat-runoudesta. Karri ”Paleface” Miettinen on kirjoittanut tekstejä tukemaan teoksen kokonaisuutta ja antanut äänensä tarinan päähenkilölle, yön rakastajalle.
